Sweetheart

I miss my little Sweetheart whenever we’re apart,
I miss her sweet companionship that mends and soothes my heart.
To know that I am treasured, and loved no matter what,
Persistent love that carries on; not running cold and hot,
Still brings me joy; inspires me as nothing else can do,
She is so rare, exceptional, the likes of her are few.
I fail her, yes I know this, it’s often on my mind,
But by word and deed she continues to show me she is kind.
She’s patient, wise, and caring, she’s forgiving to the end,
So special; I’ll do anything rather than offend
My special little Sweetheart whose love I cherish so,
For her my heart will always have a special pleasant glow.

Thanks

Thank you Lord for your goodness,
For the love you have for me,
A love so great, so endless,
deeper than the deepest sea.
___
Thanks for the peace that knowing you brings,
So that my heart’s at rest;
No matter what the problem is,
I know it’s for the best.
___
Thank you too for mercy,
That saved me from a fate
That’s worse than death; my sin was black,
My heart was filled with hate.
___
But I came to you and asked for help.
You saw my need and then,
You changed my heart, and put me on
The path of life again.
___
Knowing you is just so great,
That I can’t take it in.
And I thank you Lord, that if you’re with me,
I can’t help but win.
___
For you’re not like a poor weak man,
No, you won’t change your mind.
Your patience, love and mercy
Will always be the kind
___
That lasts for all eternity,
and covers all my needs.
Thank you Lord forever
For your gracious mighty deeds,
___
The deeds of love that sent your Son,
To open up a way
For such as me to lose my guilt.
Now, how can I repay
___
For such a love? I simply can’t.
So instead, I’ll say,
“Thank you Lord”. I’ll thank you
Through the eternal day.

Keeping On

The long road is often hard,
and as I walk I stumble into holes of doubt,
through weeds of fear, and swamps of sin –
Again I begin,

For the way is ever a beginning;
and the secret of success is found
in rising up and moving on, though weary,
when life seems dreary,

I set my face toward the New Jerusalem,
as Christ once did the Old, to meet His cross,
to buy the Church; His bride.
I discard my pride

And limp foolishly through crowds
of leaping, laughing folks who jeer
and sneer and go the other way.
I can but pray

And leave them to their will;
for never yet has man been forced
to choose the best
against the rest.

The road is hard to find
amid the glare of seeming life;
the search is difficult and time is short.
But to have sought

for life so distant and intangible
is not considered wise
when joys on earth are plentiful and free.
But not for me

the regret and emptiness of human taste.
My satisfaction is not in the thrill
of earthly pleasure.
Heaven holds my treasure.

How Thankful

How thankful, how grateful that I should receive;
not what I deserve, but what I believe.
For if I received what I ought, then I should
be lost in my faults; there’d be nothing I could
Do to redeem the time wasted on Earth;
for man is found twisted and crooked from birth.
The outcome how sad, of this warp in his frame:
Instead of uprightness, he’s crippled and lame.
~~~~
If it were needful for man to repair
the damage he’s done, then not one could bear,
The challenge of guilt, the heart that must quail
at the hopelessness of the soul that will fail;
Though hard he will struggle to make himself right,
the mountain of victory is large, and its height;
Is greater than any encounter in life,
and harder by far than all kinds of strife.
~~~~
The good news is better than man can expect
Whoever will come, God will not reject’;
Such is the love that the Father has shown;
the harvest reflects not the seed that is sown,
But a vast field of joy; of souls that are pure,
who into the ages of ages endure;
Because of the love of the Father for those
who without him had no chance of rest or repose.
~~~~
How can I deserve the chance to repent?
It isn’t an issue, for God simply sent,
His Beautiful Son to pay for my wrong.
Instead of rejection He gives me a song,
That’s instilled in my heart along with a pledge
that He’s hedging my heart around with the hedge,
Of protection from all the result of past guilt,
and the filter of Spirit to remove all the silt.
~~~~
Simply ‘believe’ is the answer to sin;
not wrestling and striving in order to win,
We’re no longer condemned who simply believe;
those who trust in His word are those who achieve
Eternal forgiveness for all they have done.
When God looks at them He sees only His Son,
Who paid the great price so they could belong
to His own great family, cleansed from all wrong.
~~~~
The message is patent for all who will hear;
there’s no need for living enslaved by your fear,
God says ‘It’s by grace you’re forgiven your sin’
It’s surely by faith; we believe him; to win
Freedom from all of eternity’s qualms,
and a peace that enables, assures us and calms,
All of our doubts and all of our fears,
no room for anxiety, fretting or tears
The Smile That Lifts Me Up
Your smile is truly magic,
It lights up your pretty face;
It enhances its surroundings
With the sweetness of your grace.
When my day has been unhappy,
And I’m weary and distressed;
When I’m wondering if I’ll make it,
And by strife I’m sorely pressed,
Then beholding your dear visage,
Shining brightly with good cheer,
I am lifted up; encouraged,
By your smile so brilliant – clear.
Its effulgence, dazzling, beaming,
Radiates to all around
Somehow, joy and glad acceptance;
As though in it can be found
All the happiness of Heaven,
And pure pleasures of the Earth,
For your smile’s the greatest treasure,
And is of a treasure’s worth.
Once A Stranger
Once A Stranger
A short time ago you were a stranger
Who had moved into the peripheral of my vision;
A shadow that flitted
From her door to who knows where.
Neighbours we were and alien;
Polite but distant; involved in self-interest,
But I began to see you;
A person to notice and to consider.
No enchantress – nor a megastar;
No effusion of charm and allure along with
her pride and arrogance,
But simply courteous and gracious.
You soon became a special friend;
One whose presence I awaited eagerly each day.
When I failed to see you,
My day was incomplete, something was missing.
Your cheery welcoming smile
Was a thing that I came to cherish greatly.
You gave me delight,
And in time became my greatest treasure.
Now, the unthinkable has happened
To me who believed that a perfect partner
Was not only impossible,
But simply a dream for the young and for fools.
My youthful dream has come true My Love,
And the stranger who entered my life then
Has become my perfect partner,
Now and for all times until the end of our lives.
All my love, once your neighbour, now you husband,
A Woman such as You
A Woman such as You
What do I feel – what do I experience when I think of you?
I get a sense of joy as I see your face in my mind’s eye;
When I remember the fun you bring to my life;
The pleasure your smile brings out in me.
To recollect the wonder of your companionship;
to bask in the warmth of that recollection;
To know again and again that you are the most wonderful gift
That God could give me in this life;
To rejoice in the prospect that you presence brings;
The future with your gentle touch, your kindness, your love;
To look back on the past days with which you have gifted me;
Satisfaction, care, wisdom, soft unobtrusive guidance;
These things are always with me – in my mind;
and I carry them around with me as treasures and pleasures.
They brighten my days, and calm my nights, and lift me to a level of
happiness I never thought possible.
For a man such as me.
Life's love
Life's Love
Valentines are for the young, the foolish and the shallow.
True romantic love is much more than flowers;
It is being there for each other;
It is commitment no matter what;
It is caring.
It sets an example of kindness;
It does not wait for love to be returned;
Rather, it lavishes itself so that
It’s object is enriched, and in turn,
It too seeks expression in love
Toward others.
I am self-centred and weak.
Therefore to love is a struggle.
But the worthiness of she who needs to be loved
Produces resolve, and strong desire
To commit unto costly fidelity.
She is worthy;
For she is an example of kindness;
She loves as the expression of her heart,
And that lavished love,
Enriches my life, and as a consequence,
I desire to reciprocate that love,
And bless her in return.
My love is a great joy.
My love is a warm heart.
She is comforting arms and cheering company.
she is fun and friendliness.
She is common-sense and steadiness with
Physical beauty.
My love teaches me kindness,
And natural consideration toward others
As typical and normal.
As I watch, I learn and am enriched
By who and what she is:
My Love; My Treasure.
